Artist: Frank Algernon Stewart

Frank Algernon Stewart 1877-1945 A pupil of the Slade and of Frank Calderon he became a war artist for the Illustrated London news. Artists of this period became so good at observation because they had to produce work quickly and regularly. He became particularly known for his paintings of hunting scenes which were well painted and well understood being a keen hunting man himself. He lived mch of his later life in Gloucestershire.
