About Sally Mitchell Fine Arts

Est.1970 Trading for over 50 years!

Sally Mitchell started life as a dealer in antique sporting paintings, later writing 'The Dictionary of Equestrian Artists' published by The Antique Collectors Club, still the seminal work on the subject. She subsequently moved into publishing Limited Edition prints over 40 years ago and Sally Mitchell Fine Arts was born.  Her son John joined the business in 1997 having studied Fine Art Valuation in Southampton.

It is still a small family run business and we take great pride in showing what we believe to be some of the finest countryside, canine, equestrian and wildlife paintings in Europe, even the world! We also strive to produce very high quality prints, cards and gifts and to supply them promptly. In 2007 we installed a Cruse scanner one of the world's best large format fine art scanners, giving us the ability to scan rigid artworks up to 1 x 1.5 metres in size at a phenomenal quality.  In 2011 we purchased the very run down former coaching Inn 'The Newcastle Arms' and set about renovating it to be what is now our Gallery and Museum.  In 2014 we opened The Museum of The Horse, without question the finest collection of 'equestriana' in the country.  We are regular exhibitors at The Great Yorkshire Show, The Game Fair and Burghley Horse Trials.
