Karen who was born in 1976, grew up and acquired an education to A Level standard in Kenya surrounded by vast landscapes and nature. It was here that her love of animals and the colours around her inspired her to sketch the landcapes and wild animals in their natural environment. It was here she started painting commissions. She came to England in 1997, where she was accepted by the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester to study an agri business degree. Further to achieving this, Karen worked for a couple of bloodstock selling agents, where she continued to study and sketch horses gathering many commissions along the way. Such demand for her work led to her giving up her job to become a full time professional artist. She now still lives in Cirencester with her faithful Jack Russell, 'Impi', which, she quotes translates as 'Zulu Warrior'! Her subject matter varies from equine to the surrounding countryside and although most of her paintings are in pastel, she is equally impressive with oils. Karen's ambitions are to progress with her painting, building a name for herself and perhaps even to give some of the top selling artists a run for their money.
